How an IEC 60068 Test Campaign Works

  1. Plan: Review the standard part revision, component climatic category (e.g., 55/100/56 codes), operational power requirements, and metric baselines.
  2. Prepare: Confirm custom test fixtures, multi-axis shaker configurations, environmental chambers, data acquisition wiring, and instrumentation sensors.
  3. Mount and Instrument: Install the specimen using authentic mounting arrangements, connect operational monitoring lines, and execute initial examination measurements.
  4. Calibrate and Expose: Confirm exact chamber or shaker tolerances, then execute the uniform test method (e.g., Cold, Cyclic Heat, or Random Vibration) per the required sequence.
  5. Monitor: Continuously track real-time telemetry, intermediate functional evaluations, surface temperatures, and any environmental variations inside the working space.
  6. Review and Report: Enforce standard post-conditioning recovery holds, perform final examinations, and generate comprehensive ISO 17025 test certificates.

What to Provide Before an IEC 60068 Test Quotation

A specimen whose hottest surface temperature rises by more than 5 K above the ambient air temperature once thermal equilibrium has been achieved under powered conditions.

Recovery

Conditioning

The exposure phase where a specimen is subjected to defined external stresses like freezing cold, heat, humidity, shock, or vibration

Pre-conditioning

Ambient Temperature

The temperature of the surrounding air inside the chamber or laboratory environment immediately surrounding the test specimen.
